What Is
CARD-DISPLAYTM?
CARD-DISPLAY is a
standard protocol and interface designed to facilitate the
interoperability of credit and debit card systems with display-timer
products via an RS-232 serial port and a specific protocol to convey
payment, message, and status data back and forth between the two
units. This protocol was developed by IDX to satisfy the needs of the
carwash industry at the request of multiple card acceptor
manufacturers who wanted a standardized method to provide
plug-and-play functionality between their own products and
display-timers already present in the majority of self-service carwash
bays. Although the standard was developed by and is currently
maintained by IDX, it will be made freely available to the industry.
However, there is one catch: In order to use the CARD-DISPLAY
trademark and logo on a product, it must pass certification testing to
verify that it functionally meets the interoperability reliability our
end customers demand. Any product that has been certified by IDX will
additionally be provided recognition below in the form of a space to
list compatible products, show a few tempting pictures, and provide a
link to the corresponding product site.
